Delicious , delicious , delicious . The sushi is hand crafted to perfection. The display they make on the boat is outstanding . The employees are always high spirited and kind , and give you everything you may need . The volcano roll is unlike any I've ever experienced in my mouth . To top it off with fried donuts ,green tea ice cream , or the fried ice cream.... Out of this world delicious . Such a quant spot.

We happened to drive by on the way to pick up a quick lunch, and I was pleased to see the mostly positive reviews on Yelp (thanks Yelpers!) so we ended up going there for dinner. FYI - they don't take reservations for parties of 2 but we went around 7pm on a Monday night and it wasn't too busy (but busy enough). They have a really extensive menu that is quite reasonably-priced (even after factoring a poor US/CDN exchange rate). The first few pages of the menu confused me a bit though because the sections we split up depending on the type of seafood. Kind of cool, just not what I expected - couldn't tell if some where appetizers or full meals. It's also been a while since I've been to a Japanese restaurant in the States, and let me just note that I was surprised to find that the "supersize me" attitude applied to ethnic cuisine as well! My deep-fried tuna collar was much larger than I was expecting it to be. Beautifully crispy on the outside, juicy and flavourful meat on the inside, with a sesame oil-soy sauce-green onion dipping sauce that paired well with it. We ordered one special sashimi, which we were told was 15 pieces, and 4 rolls. This is a very normal amount, even conservative, for the two of us sushi lovers. What arrived was 28 pieces of sashimi, and the four rolls cut into 10 pieces each! I'm not complaining because we love sashimi, and were pleased to see that there were 4 pieces of each variety, so it could be equally split between us. For the sashimi, which was all very fresh, there was octopus (pretty good, not rubbery), conch (love it- it's got a crunchy texture), a really pink tuna (meh, kind of flavourless), a normal tuna (good), salmon (yum), a white fish that might be wahoo? (delicious and buttery), and then a seared salmon in a soy dressing. The rice in the rolls were kind of mushy but they were all interesting. We had one with eel (love), a spider crab (not as good as others I've had-seemed lacking in actual spider crab), a spicy conch (good, but the spicy came from sriracha drizzled on the roll, which I didn't like as the flavour isn't as well integrated), and a chop chop scallop (very good - large chunks of fresh scallop and not too much mayo). Service was a little spotty though they do give you warmed towels when you first sit down, which is a nice touch. I'd definitely come back if ever in the area again - can't beat the freshness of that sashimi!

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here, and have been coming back from time to time ever since. They never disappoint, though the quality of the fish is variable. That isn't always the point, though. Nice people in a great location. If you are in Key Largo, spend a pleasant evening there, you'll like it.

Cheap Japanese food on the way to Key West right on US-1. Seems to be popular with the locals as well. Our waitress was really sweet, from Thailand. Broken English but quick and efficient. Great lunch specials with prices you don't find in Miami. I got a bento box of fried tofu, stir fried veggies, side salad, miso soup and brown rice for $7.95. The tofu was delicious, the brown rice cooked perfectly. The veggies were tender-crisp but pretty salty and peppery. Most Americans probably like it that way, I've never seen black pepper used in East Asian cooking. Mom got beef and veggie stir fry with brown rice and side salad for under $10. The plate was huge, too much for one person. From what I saw, the sushi rolls were big and looked really good. I would have loved to try one but had too much food as it was. At $3.50 for dessert it was hard to say no to fried cheesecake. It was very good and BIG but could have used a little dark chocolate syrup. If I lived in the keys, this would be a regular spot for me.

Best sushi I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying!!!! Service was just ok. Sat at sushi bar. Sushi chefs amazing artists, congenial, and helpful. Thanks for a great night and food. Located mile marker 100, across from Walgreens. Parking at Bay Side Inn.

Food is great and the price is reasonable. Service is pretty good too, our server was super sweet. I would definitely come back when I visit Key largo.

To their credit, they have a great, amazing menu and their prices are very good. We went on a busy Saturday night where every table was filled with those hungering for raw fish. There were only 2 waitresses serving the whole restaurant, so a simple sushi dinner (no fancy orders) with 3 young kids turned into a 2 hour affair. Would have been delightful over saki with friends. Not so much with wildebeests. I was very impressed with the variety on the menu, but the gyoza arrived cold owing to the overworked staff. The green iced tea came in a great big glass and made me happy. The spicy tuna mixture was nicely flavored, but too mushy for my tastes. I had a chef's special, which was spicy tuna with a little this and that, rolled in a crepe with rainbow colored fish on top. Mushy tuna, mushy crepe... not the ideal combo. In fact, downright unappealing. I still have to take my hat off (were I wearing one) to the menu and the prices, but after reading the other reviews I was expecting more. Service=1, food=3, selection=5.

you have to try out the CONCH appetizers. It's raw conch, and it was so delicious that we even went back to order another plate. And it's cheap. The sushi rolls are just ok.

This place is deceiving in so many ways. First off, it is a hole in the wall pink shack that makes you think there is no way they could be making magic in their kitchen. Definitely not the case. Every bit of food that my husband and I have had there had magic embedded in it. It is also a deceptive little shack being that the portions are huge and the prices and minuscule. The first time we went, we looked at the prices on the menu and assumed that the rolls must be tiny, so we ordered 4 rolls to share. Lord have mercy, we were wrong. At the end of the evening our bellies were overly full, our plates were still not empty and our wallet was not too much lighter than when we arrived. Overall, a great place for fresh and inexpensive sushi.

When I walked in I was not expecting much due to the fact it was not in a major city. My assumption was confirmed when the Miso soup came, it was quite salty and thicker then it is suppose to be. But then my entree came and it was very good. I had the spider Roll, if you are not allergic to shell fish I recommend it. I also got to try the tuna sandwich, to me it was mediocre but my dinning companies say they tasted something wired about the tuna but I couldn't detect it probably because I never eat tuna. In conclusion my assumption was sure what right .

Delicious and FRESH! Ginger is perfect! Great portions at a reasonable price. I love Yelp for their great recommendations! Yellowtail sashimi is sweet and the cold saki is a bonus. I'll be back!

It's actually a zero star review. Walked in never greeted by anyone. See a waitress taking a stroll in the restaurant who glazes past us with a blank stare. Tried to talk to her, failed. Tried to wave down another waitress, who tried to avoid eye contact with us. When she walked past I asked are you guys not serving ppl? She made a I'm sorry motion as if she doesn't understand me and told me to hold on and walked away and never came back. Wtf? Someone pls tell me what the heck is up with the place/service? If you are busy tell us? Needless to say we never got to try the food cuz I don't think they want us there. Also noted another family was not happy with the food/service as they returned an entire bento box back.

Customer service here is absolutely appalling! I ordered a tuna tataki and it was not to my standards, I've eaten it at this restaurant several times before but today it just had a weird taste I politely asked my waitress to take it back but she got all insulted and told me that even if I didn't eat it I still had to pay for it. I would of gladly paid for it if my waitress was polite about it but the way she approached me was extremely rude. I asked her to speak to the owner and the owner refused to speak to me, I ended up having to pay for my food even though I sent it back on the first bite. Everything else we ordered was pretty good but I was not happy with the service.

Very poor service for an establishment that has so much potential, waited 20 minutes for water, under staffed, walked out after realizing that they had forgotten about us.

Nice big pieces of sashimi. Sushi was good but not great. They didnt season the sushi rice.... tasted plain.

The portions were HUGE !!! Git the combination shrimp tempura and chicken teriyaki combo ... It was plenty. Hot sake a little expensive and ut wasn't hot ($10).

I used to love this place as a great meal on my way to or on my way back from the Keys. Not sure what has happened, but it's gone downhill. I used to even wear one of their shirts, which I now see they don't sell anymore.

  • Maris D.

The food was delicious! The chicken fried rice was light and flavorful. The sushi rolls were creative and HUGE!! Like 3 times the norm HUGE. The prices are extremely reasonable. $8 - 13 rolls. The service started out great but once we got our food we were completely forgotten. We asked for the check 5 times before we stood up and waited by the door. The A/C units started smoking twice. The bathroom is an outhouse.

I'm surprised by all the good reviews here. We waited no time to be seated but then waited forever to get drinks and an order in then forever again for simple edamame finally (35 minutes later) for our sushi. Our waitress had no time for us, we had to ask the only other one on shift about our food. The sushi was nothing special, it was decent though but not worth the time or money. Try any other place around the area.

We went based on Yelp reviews. Expecting it to be decent. We were a bit disappointed. There were four of us and it took them almost an hour to deliver our 4 rolls for dinner. The waitress did not even check in on us while we were waiting and we needed the drinks and other things and had to chase her down. The rolls were very mediocre. Tasted similar to what I can get it Costco. And that's coming from somebody who gets great sushi in Denver Colorado. My expectations were pretty high. Very disappointed. Also had to chase her down to pay the bill after waiting 10 minutes for her to come back. Not recommended.

I had high expectation of this place because of some great ratings on Yelp, but it extremely disappointed me. I ordered the Seafood Udon, and the noodles were still raw in the middle and very rubbery; the broth is basically water. So I asked the waitress to send it back and cook more thoroughly and add some sauce whatever they use. Japanese restaurants usually use a special soy sauce to make the Udon soup, but apparently not at this place. When the waitress finally came back with my Udon (and my friend was almost done with his dish) it was still uncooked and chewy. I can taste that they just added salt into the broth - if you can call it broth - and it's a lot. It was so salty that I had to pour half of my iced water into the bowl. It was terrible. But I was too hungry to send it back. The waitress was not apologetic at all and didn't come back to ask us how was our meal like she'd care. The roll was very loosely rolled, almost falling apart. Nothing we ordered was impressive, not authentic at all. The miso soup was salty as hell my friend couldn't even finish it. Not recommend!

This used to be our go-to sushi restaurant. The first few times were fun for the whole family. The last two times however have done us in. The service has been way too slow or in the last case, nonexistent. It's really too bad because the sushi was good and the prices are decent.

Where do you find the best Spider roll in Florida? Right here! Never had a bad meal here out of the 20 times I have visisted. Hot saki... good. Cold saki... better. The bathrooms remind me of a military base camp in Cambodia, but that roll is so freaking good who cares! Fresh fish in Key Largo is right here, I never miss this place when I come down to dive. Bonzai!

  • Max K.

I arrived here late because another Key Largo "home style" mainstay down the street totally failed. But this place totally rocked! I'm from NYC, and these guys deliver quality above the "pretty good average" that is NYC neighborhood sushi. Not a destination sushi joint, but better than what you'd ever expect. I really like this place.

Horrible service, not acknowledged waiting 25 min in restaurant. Place needs extreme makeover with service this is unbelievable

  • James N.

Quality of food is on par with similar restaurants in the Keys. The service was a little disappointing, our server was a bit confusing when it came to order the food. It took a long time to get our food, and we noticed the sushi boat sitting on the bar for 30 minutes was in fact ours, the server had just forgotten to bring it to us. Would travel a few extra miles to an alternative if possible.

I walked in at 935pm. The neon "open" sign was still on and they also had there operating hours sign out stating it was open until 10pm. I was standing there for 10mns while one employee cleaned tables as she glanced at me. I walked up to her tired of waiting and she looked at me and said "i'm sorry" and went back to cleaning. No other explanation, nothing. Not understanding what she meant by that, i asked her if she was going to take my order. She then just pointed at the chefs. I asked the chefs if they could take my order and one lady looked at me smiled and said "we close soon". I then asked her are you closing soon or are you closed now. She then changed her answer and said we closed now. What the hell is this... if you want to close early lock ur door and turn off your open sign. Dont just give ur customers a blank look and ignore them while hoping they go away. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

My fams go to sushi spot in Key Largo. Its not anything special in my opinion (compared to most sushi places I've been to at least) but they don't have much competition either so it makes sense (a bit dated) (There really isn't a better place to get sushi for this price and quantity unless you go to encore or the thai/sushi place). The fish quality and presentation is okay, the service is okay. I think what annoys me the most is that because whenever we go we have a big family so its hard to find a place to sit. They usually stick us in the booth and its a tight fit sometimes if its all of us in there. Overall though, the best choice in Key Largo for sushi for price and quantity, but nothing special (but maybe because there is no real competition).

Hidden gem is an understatement. If you had a restaurant on US1 in the keys, wouldn't you have a lighted sign? Literally almost impossible to find. Once we were in the restaurant it took forever to get food. As a matter of fact, I'm still sitting here waiting for my food. Fortunately I have time to take in the sounds of the obnoxious family behind me as they push incessantly on the back of my booth. It's been an hour... I wonder if I'll ever find out how my food tastes. Thankfully, there is a small television playing The Last Man on Earth... Seems kinda cool.. Unlike this awful restaurant. I've seen the waiter twice. She's mean. My water is empty. She reminds me of a character from a Nazi movie. Still getting pushed by the people behind me. I think they made my booth out of tinker toys. I wonder how many restaurants in this area are better than this. We'll never know because I might die of thirst in this booth. I think death by thirst happens before starvation. I'm about to bum rush the kitchen. I'll probably have to fight off a Santuku wielding sushi chef to get to the food...It would technically be personal defense if I'm going to starve right? I think so.... How have they not cleaned off the table behind me? The waitress just came up to us! Without food :(. Apparently the sushi chef is "stuck". She offered us a house drink. I just bumped it to two stars. Still no water. 1 hour, 10 minutes. At least I'm not one of the many people sitting by the door waiting for a table. I wonder what the free meal threshold is? What does stuck mean if your a sushi chef? Dull knife through a big fish and just ground to a halt? Poor guy is still trying to lift his knife out of the fish carcass... Just glanced at the kitchen... Sushi chef is about 90. Moving slow. Obsolete sushi chef is keeping me from eating. Still no water. Why did she come by again? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Absolutely the best quality and largest pieces of sashimi anywhere. The restaurant is almost hidden in a small motel. Don't pass this up.

I Yelped this restaurant before coming through... I saw both positive and negative reviews so I decided it was worth the risk to try it. My girlfriend and I really ended up regretting that decision. Overall, it was as another reviewer mentioned, if a good time having sushi for you involves a California roll, then this is the perfect place for you. I've had sushi all over the states, and in Japan. In my opinion what makes a sushi restaurant great is that it either 1. Brings a lot of value, or 2. Brings a wonderful (and exotic) experience. Sushi Nami does neither. Sodas are in cans and $2 a pop, the boat options are all centered around the California roll or other basic rolls. For example, love boat for 2 only has 3 rolls (california, tuna, salmon), and 6 pieces of sashimi. The house salad is horrible, the same "peanut" dressing was absolutely disgusting. I took a bite and left the rest, not sure how to explain it, but it just tasted OFF. I have had that dressing at least fifty times, and never tasted it so off. I do not know if it was expired, or what, but I couldn't eat it. We ordered a futomaki roll and the JB tempura roll. Futomaki was kind of gross, the seaweed wrap was very very chewy, i didn't eat more thaf wo pieces. The JB tempura roll was made up of cream cheese, salmon, and deep fried in batter. The salmon was alright, but it was missing the nice pink color you expect, a lot of it was gray. The roll itself was also entirely too heavy on the batter which made it half batter, half roll. Also ordered the ton katsu (breaded pork) and the vegetable ramen. The katsu was made up of a pork chop, sliced super thin horizontally and vertically. The pork wasn't marinated and had no flavor. The ramen was lacking flavor, largely, but besides that was okay. The service was alright, and really the only reason I am rating this place two stars instead of one. Overall, I think this restaurant is being hurt by margin-protecting management decisions. Throughout my view of the menu, and offerings, I just can't help but see all the "exotic rolls" that are based off of a california roll, the $2 soda, the no-exception "all substitutions extra" notation on every page, and "value" offerings like the boats and combinations which really leave both value and experience to be desired. This place is just trying to make a quick buck off of the tourists.

Visiting from out of state, tried this based on Yelp reviews. Loved the temaki rolls - super fresh and good. Very friendly service and fun decor (for example, paper currency from all over the world at the entrance - fun for kids to examine). Yes, they use imitation crab, but for me that's not a huge deal with everything else so good. My husband noted their prep of his non-sushi dish was "old school" - not bad, just more 1980s than 2000s in terms of style.

    (5)
  • Mel T.

If you are the kind of person who goes to a sushi restaurant and gets California Rolls then you'll like it. If you are looking for great fresh fish go up the road to Num-Thai. I'm sorry but the crab is imitation. Really imitation crab in Key Largo? I can get real crab sushi in Michigan. That right there put a huge damper on my visit. When I saw that on the menu I should have walked out. A lot of the rolls have the fake crab in it so it really reduced my options. YUCK! I decided to stay since it was recommend to us because I could get nice fresh options in Nigiri. Everything I wanted was "out". The worst part was when I asked for the Conch I was told that no one would get it right now. I just had Conch Nigiri the day before. If they can't get it that is no problem, but claiming no one could get it again bugged me. The rolls I got were big, but not so big I couldn't fit them in my mouth. I'm normally a 2 roll person, but I could have done with one. They were nicely rolled and stayed together. I ended up having half of each roll left. I took them home to have later, but decided they were uninspired enough that I threw them out. The food isn't bad, but I have a high standard for sushi especially someplace that is in the Keys. This place would be far down on my list of Sushi places in Michigan and not even on the list in Florida. I'm sad I wasted a meal here.

Great lunch prices, excellent food no matter what you get. Favorite lunch place ever. Great staff. Very authentic. I recommend the dragon roll and the volcano roll, those are my favorites. Always fresh, and I have fresh fish all the time, I know when it's fresh. Overall, 5 stars for sure!

  • Lowell Z.

Truly different menu, where you can try something besides the usual spicy tuna roll/California roll meal....We always get our sashimi, rice, cooked shrimp and nigiri here when we're in Key Largo...Which is often. Interesting interior, very close and not really conducive to a private dinner...That said, we always get our stuff to go, and it's not bad enough to remove a star...

Food was good but the service was far less than satisfactory. The sushi chefs looked like they were in a bad mood, too bad because this place has potential.

  • M K.

It's amazing how far service takes you, and in my case with Nami, down. Their sushi and rolls are good, imagine my surprise sitting in Key Largo, behind an Inn by the highway. Their agedashi tofu, largely portioned, was consistent. I tried several nigiri along with a yellowtail roll, their fish was fresh. Their menu has alot to go through and choose from. So, I review based on one sitting, and clearly it looked like the three serve staff were overwhelmed in all areas, especially communication and customer service. The space is not large, perhaps under 15 tables and it didn't take me long to realize that I shouldn't take it personally as they were consistent amongst the other diners.

This place is a little hidden but don't be fooled. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is the sashimi and dragon roll here. Try the fried ice-cream if you're not too full from your meal. I don't know the brand of ice-cream they use but it is very smooth and yummy!

First and foremost, the sushi was absolutely delicious. Huge rolls, stuffed to the brim with fresh fish. The prices couldn't be beat! The staff was very friendly and gave us many different sauces to take home with our leftovers. Will be back this week for sure!

Ever since my family bought a vacation home in Key Largo in 2000 we have always stopped by Sushi Nami when we visit. It is such an excellent place. The food is always fresh and tasty. The inside is small but quaint. The service is a bit slow, but that is typical of the region, not just the restaurant. I have NEVER had a bad experience here and must have eaten here about 12x a year for the past 9 years. I went there over the weekend and noticed they have made a few upgrades to the inside, which is always a good sign. Just try this place, you will love...espacially the OCEAN ROLES!!!!

Sushi Nami is truly a hidden gem!! It is tucked away behind Bayside Inn. You have to go back multiple times to try everything you want because the menu is so extensive. The rolls are a good value...very big and the fish is fresh. I highly recommend the tiki roll. The love boat for 2 is great for dates. The staff is also very friendly. The waitress (who I assume is also the owner) makes you feel at home. MUST TRY!

Love the sushi here -- huge rolls and really fresh fish, unusual special rolls and lovely presentation. Great sauces and friendly service. Loses a star because the dining room could use a cleaning and the menus are old and stained, but this place truly is a hidden gem. Try it -- you won't be disappointed.

The whole experience was better than any sushi place in Miami. Their mini boat was amazing and the price was fantastic! We are going back to enjoy more. If you have a true taste for sushi then you will appreciate this place.

This restaurant is tucked away next to a Hotel lobby. It's rustic inside and the menu is somewhat confusing. Never the less the sushi we ordered was good and the portion sizes are large. The price is right too. Service was ok.

I had my doubts at first about this sushi place connected to the Bayside Inn. I was pleasantly surprised by this charming and unpretentious little sushi place. Generous portions and delightful staff. Authentic, fresh, delicious. Great prices to boot! We sat at the bar and chatted up the chef. This place has been open for 21 years. I will definitely return. They also cook your catch if you go lobster hunting or fishing.

OMG this place is no joke some of the best sushi we have ever had and we are huge sushi fans. We were staying at the hotel located right next to them which by the way I also gave a five star review too..Bayside Inn was wonderful..We went there for a late lunch and ordered the food to go because we had a two month old with us at the time and the A/C was too much for him I thought . We had so much food I thought they messed up our order and the fish was very high grade you could just tell right off the bat. I did not even use and sauce on mine because of the fish being so fresh I wanted to taste that and that only. The sides were even wonderful the miso hits the spot even in the heat of the keys. We always stop there on our way to the lower keys and grab some sushi to go then find a beach to stop at and eat this fine sushi..can't really ask for much more..Please don't pass this place up if ever in Key Largo or Upper Keys it is worth the drive if you have one and I would eat there we just like to have picnic's with the kids but if it was just myself and my husband we would eat there just for the whole experience..The staff is very kind and nice to chat with. I like to ask a lot of questions and they were so very happy to answer...See you guys in a few weeks...

We went here on a suggestion from a local. Ordered the love boat for two. It was HUGE. it fed me, my husband and my five year old itty bitty foodie. My two year old decided he wanted to go with the teriyaki chicken and rice off the kid's menu for only $7.99. The Sushi boat was HUGE. Lots of fresh fish - sashimi, sushi, a ceviche type item with seared tuna served in a martini glass, octopus and clam seaweed salad (yum), California roll, tuna roll and cucumber roll. Everything was fresh. My only gripe was that with that many pieces, there wasn't much variety. It was standard - salmon, tuna, albacore, yellow tail. No eel, uni, snapper, scallop etc. Prices were good. We ate for $59 (sushi boat for two, hamachi kama, teriyaki chicken for kids, age tofu). Service was warm and welcoming. They were accomodating to my two kids. We're just a bit sick of the same menus found in the Key Largo restos (fried fish, conch fritters) so this was very edible and the prices reasonable.

I guess it should have been a big red flag when I was the only one there for lunch at noon. Staff was decent, service was just ok. Prices decent. Ordered a lunch combo. Wasn't asked about which dressing I wanted on the salad. Neither was good. I sat at the bar where you can see the prep and pretty much everything. The wooden boat the sushi was served on had definitely seen better days, looked busted and old, wasn't sure how well it could be cleaned between dining :/ The sushi rice tasted old, the ingredients in the display didn't look fresh as the avocado was starting to turn color, the color of fish was off. The actual sushi rolls were cut into very large pieces, way bigger than traditional bite sized. The presentation looked thrown together, like it didn't matter to anyone. Everyone just went back to reading their books when I was served. No refill on water was offered, never asked how everything was. Sitting at the bar, I could see the dirty sinks with various splats on the walls, filthy toaster ovens and equipment with old aluminum foil wrappings (not sure what they were doing in a Japanese restaurant). Lighting was dim, decor is old and has definitely seen better days. Definitely won't be back. I'll grab a hotdog at the gas station before wasting time in there again.

My husband and I had dinner in this restaurant. It was a horrible experience! The food was ok but nothing special. When we asked for check, the waitress bought us a handwritten bill, I gave her my credit card she went to print the official bill from the machine. Then she gave that to me and waited for me to sign and give tips. When I was writing she was just watching, which made me feel a bit awkward. I felt like she was pushing me to give a big tip. I also felt the number on the receipt was far more than we thought we ordered. Then I asked her to see the handwritten bill again. First I found she charged one more cup of Coke for table and second the total amount was much more than the details. I asked why, she turned the paper around. In the other side there was a different breakdown which she added another 15% 'sc'. I asked her what's that. She said she doesn't know. But clearly it was a tip. I don't mind she charged 15% for tips. But since she already charged why she didn't write this number in the normal side but the back. Also why she was waiting for me to give tips again! I don't like dishonest people. I don't understand how some people are running business in this way and I won't come here to eat again.

Great quality sushi at reasonable prices. The yellowtail falls apart in your mouth and the spicy tuna is perfect.

My favorite treated like family! Food is awesome! Try the Joe roll inspired by one of the captains that practically lives there! lol
